Meerkat Editing offers several different levels of service in the editing and proofreading category:

• Proofreading only: checking text for spelling, grammar, syntax, punctuation and typographical errors, and also for tense, sense and consistency.

• Copyediting: addresses matters of writing style, seeking to improve the clarity and flow of text rather than simply ensuring correct usage and grammar. The editor may offer suggested rewording rather than simply highlighting a particular problem. In consultation with the author, conflicting statements, inaccuracies and inconsistencies in the text are reviewed and adjusted.

• Substantive structural editing: Reconstructing, improving and polishing a submitted manuscript to a level where it is suitable for publishing.
